FATHER'S DAY MEANS TWO THINGS: BBQ & WINE!

Ok, maybe the wine thing is new. But, it still holds up.

This Father's Day Garagiste Wine Room & Merchant will be hosting an afternoon of grilled meat served up by two of the Art's District's favorite dads, Chef Justin Kingsley Hall from Main St. Provisions & his brother "Iron" Mike. All while Garagiste's owner and Dad of honor, Eric Prato, will be slinging some tasty Cab Franc.

This is an afternoon by dads for dads and (but not limited to dads!).

Pick up begins at 1pm and end at 4pm. (Because, well, we want to celebrate Father's Day with our families as well, and Chef Justin has to cook at Main St. for the holiday!)

Justin & Mike will be set up out front of Garagiste so you can catch the smell of the oak burning and sweet dad comedy drifting through the neighborhood. It might be Father's Day but this is what these dads like to do with their time.

So help them kick off their New Balance sneakers, loosen their fanny packs, aloe vera their farmer's tan, and enjoy another year of being a father.

The DOMAINE DE LA CHEVALERIE is, above all, the story of a family that took root in this place in 1640. A story of men and women, vines, Cabernet Franc in particular, and especially love. Unconditional love for a land that has seen its children grow up but especially for a soil that never ceases to surprise with its ability to support the development of a plant with unique fruits, pure testimonies of a terroir, and the goodness of Mother Nature.

Thirteen generations past and the adventure continues today with Laurie, Emmanuel, and Stephanie Caslot, siblings united to take care of this magnificent estate of 33 hectares and perpetuate with passion the family tradition in the continuity of their father, Pierre. Custodians of history, a style, and a heritage, the three siblings strive to transmit everyday the pleasure of wine and the greatest respect for nature.

The Diptyque is the domaine’s ‘Vin de Soif’ (light, easy, supple wine). Diptyque is ancient Greek referring to two panels linked together. Here, with wine, it is a wine made with sun and soil. The 2018 is 100% Cabernet Franc and has aromas of raspberries, bell peppers, and tobacco. On the palate it is bright and lively with plenty of red fruit flavors and tart red cherry notes.

CENTRAL COAST STYLE TRI-TIP

A good trip-tip speaks to the childhood of both Chef Justin and his brother Cast Iron Mike who grew up in the central coast of California where this particular cut of beef and bbq dish originated. Traditionally the sandwich is made up of garlic bread with sliced tri-tip thats been grilled over oak and dressed with pico de gallo. But, as you travel north from Santa Ynez/Santa Maria to San Luis Obispo there is a shift where bbq sauce becomes more common. It's what we like to call the Giants-Dodgers divide. As the support for Giants baseball turns to Dodger blue driving south of San Luis Obispo. Consider a tri-tip sandwich like a Philly cheesesteak. you don't add or take away. There's some argument about a couple of ingredients..but this is our thing.
